Construction of Jazz City starts
Jazz City is set to become the coolest new neighbourhood in Roermond: a unique residential location by the water with shops, entertainment, catering outlets, and a boulevard on your doorstep. The town centre is within walking distance.
The Designer Outlet Centre (DOC) has attracted lots of visitors to Roermond since opening in 2001. An initial expansion of the DOC and the construction of the Kazernevoorterrein are the forerunners of the further development of the area to the north of the N280. Work is currently under way on the construction of Jazz City, the new district that is designed to attract young and old, tourists and locals, to the quaint atmosphere of Roermond.
Jazz City covers a total area of around six hectares, within which a variety of facilities will be built in the years ahead:
- Designer Outlet Center (phase 4): approx. 17,000 m2 of new shopping concepts
- Catering outlets: approx. 3,000 m2
- Hotel: approx. 9,000 m2 (140 rooms)
- Leisure: approx. 9,000 m2
- Parking: approx. 4,300 spaces
- Residential: approx. 330 apartments
A total of around 330 apartments are to be built, in three phases, all involving high-quality architecture, of course. New Orleans (Phase A) is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2017. Later we will proceed with phase B (the Boulevard) and phase C (the Marina). All the homes will have their own parking facilities and stylish entrances situated alongside both the Meuse and the relaxed terrace cafés and pedestrian shopping areas.
